Wow, it’s been a while. And I do apologize for that, if anyone actually does care. I’ve been extremely busy lately with moving out and into university, so time will not be a luxury for the next little while. But I will make an effort to blog as often as I can, without failing my classes. I’ll also post a couple other posts out of sync, as I have some nice shots from GlobalFest 2014 and my family’s recent trip to Toronto that I just haven’t been able to put up yet. But right now, Waterloo.
Waterloo. It is hot. So very indecently hot. I can see where people are coming from when they say you can’t stay without an AC here. Temperature wise it’s nothing too bad, but when you factor in the humidity that comes from the surrounding five great lakes, jeans are something that should be avoided at all costs, which I learned the hard way today. Goddamm, it’s hot.
It’s also extremely quiet. If it weren’t for the university, I would call it a ghost town and assume no one lives here. But then again, let’s be honest, if it wasn’t for the university, who would even know the town of Waterloo existed at all? But yeah, it’s small and quiet. But when I say small, it’s not so small you can’t get lost for over an hour on campus. It’s not that small. All in all, it seems like a nice city, and I hope I have a good time here.
My room exceeded my expectations by a lot. It is actually a quite spacious suite, with more than enough space to live comfortably. My bedroom itself isn’t too big, but it still isn’t bad; the desk, bed, and closet all fit in nicely and it doesn’t feel cramped by any standards. The internet is nothing too shabby. My roommates seem pretty chill, so hopefully I get to know them better soon. I’ll put up some pictures of my room sometime soon, whenever I find the time.
Which brings up an important point (at least I think it’s important). Now that school is starting, and will be starting with considerably more vigour than it ever has before, I don’t think I’ll have the time to blog very often. To all my followers out there, if you exist, expect nothing more than twice a week on this blog. There just won’t be time. I’m sorry, and I’ll do my best to post only the best material when I do actually post. There’ll be more posts this week because I’ll have more time since it’s only frosh week, but after that, don’t get excited.
So basically, Waterloo is rudely hot, surprisingly small, and all things considered, a fairly nice town. Keep in mind these are first impressions, and they are apt to change soon, and perhaps frequently. Again, I’ll do my best to blog as often as possible, but don’t expect too much. It’s been a pleasure blogging thus far, and I’m not about to stop anytime soon. More to come soon, don’t worry. But till then, peace out, world!
And I can’t not write this, but all students received a condom in their orientation package. Nothing says welcome to the whole wide world more than that does. The university certainly is more optimistic than I am.
