And “survived” is a good word to use, I think. Because university is DIFFICULT. I was expecting it to be tough, and it is…but more so than I expected. The work is necessarily overly difficult (physics aside), but there’s so much work that needs to be done that your time just gets eaten away. You need to work hard, very hard, to be successful, and as someone who’s always skated by without putting in too much effort, making the adjustment is by no means easy.
Classes go by so fast, you’d really be screwed if you missed a couple days. The professors cover material at a breakneck speed, so you really need to be on top of things. Wow, the classes go by fast. And it sucks that most professors have super accented English, too. But yeah, super fast. It’s going to be a hard, hard term.
Add on top of that that in my program, I don’t have any old friends. Yes yes, I’m going to make friends, but it takes time. You don’t become friends with someone over night (well, maybe a one-night stand, which seems common here, but I wouldn’t know). So for the most part, I really am on my own in my studies, which makes it all the more difficult. Having close friends in the program would help.
…And next week I’m applying for a co-op job. Did I mention that classes go by fast? So it is with a heavy heart, and I really mean that, that I must confess that it’s probably going to be impossible for me to blog more than once a week. I don’t like it, because I love blogging, but I need to focus on my studies. But the blog will live on.
One week down, twelve more to go. Cue the music.
